Welcome to The Boiling Cauldron Empty
PostSubject: Welcome to The Boiling Cauldron   Welcome to The Boiling Cauldron EmptyThu Apr 17, 2008 3:14 am

The Boiling Cauldron has three main parts to it: the shop, the living quarters and a witch's den.

The front part, the first thing you see when you enter the wooden building is the shop. The front door is a curtain of multicoloured beads strung together using the tail hair of a unicorn. If you look closely, you can see that within each bead there is a tiny object embedded in it, whether it is a fire ant, a cactus' needle or a beetle's eye. They are set in a pattern. Their purpose is to prevent evil from setting foot within my premises.

The shop is simple enough. It's a rectangular room, with long counter set at the back. There are only two windows in the front and light from a candle, so the threshold is fairly dim, which suits a witch just fine. Behind the counter is where I would stand during the opening hours of my humble shop. On the counter there is always a pair of very rusty, very old, but well oiled, weighing balance. Usually beside it are stacks of wrapping paper to package dry item, an old tea set, a crystal ball (I love my crystal ball) and an wooden abacus with odd inscriptions on its side.
Welcome to The Boiling Cauldron Untitl10

Further behind is a glass case mounted on on the wall where I keep my more...valuable commodities. If the thought of breaking into it has by chance crossed your mind take care, you may find yourself a little different by the next day. You have been warned. Along the two walls beside the door, my more common items are presented. On the right, shelves that are more often than not bare holds vials, bottles and pints of potions. Opposite to it, on the wall to the left, jars of bright coloured powders lined up.

A trapdoor on the floor behind the counter leads into the witch' den underground, where I prepare all the things I sell, and also some that I don't. The room is always dim. Some candelabras mounted on the walls help provide little light. On one side of the wall, a circular wooden door is camouflaged by similarly coloured earth. It opens to a tunnel, high enough to walk in, leading directly outside of the house and serves as an escape route should I find myself trapped. At the dead centre of the room, a square pit is dug into the ground. This is where the fire is made to boil my cauldron. More shelves line the interior of the walls where I keep my supplies of herbs and raw materials. I keep my parrot here in a cage on a floor-stand. He's not my pet. I keep him only because he serves me well by giving me his bright blue feathers which i often need to use in my potions. Scattered around the room are uncommon looking tools I use daily for my preparations.

Welcome to The Boiling Cauldron Wooden11 A wooden mortar and pestle for turning things into powder. On the bowl, there is an intricate depiction of The Battle of The Warlock's on The Weeping Sea. Ths is a priceless artefact that has been passed down for generations.
Welcome to The Boiling Cauldron Images12 A large mixing bowls for putting together concoctions before boiling them. A pentacle is carved into it for luck.Welcome to The Boiling Cauldron Images13 A potbelly cauldron made of cast iron. The pentacle is etched onto it for the same reason as the mixing bowl.

Back to the shop, there is another door, obscured by yet another curtain of evil-warding beads, that leads into the living quarters. The main difference of this section compared to the other two is that it is extremely well lit, with at least two large windows overfilling the room with sunlight on each wall. The glass have been reinforced with magic to resist breaking. I've learnt from experience that having large windows increases the chances of someone's thrown stone actually hitting it (darn kids), especially if you are a witch. Now any stones thrown are bounced back. This wing of the house consists of two floors, The first contains the living room and kitchen. The upstairs is a bedroom.
Welcome to The Boiling Cauldron Images14 In one corner of the room there is a spinning wheel from which I make golden thread sold in my shop. Sometimes I also use it in potions. The wheel is placed facing a television (Yes, I have a television) so that I can weave while watching. There are couches in the sitting area. One of them has a bear pelt thrown over them for warmth. The television is flanked by bookshelves, two on each side, housing decades of potion-making and witchcraft texts.

The kitchen is very quaint and simple with the basic equipment you'd expect to find in a modern day kitchen. A 4-seater dining table is placed next to it. Behind it is a rack of liquor that is never full ( I might have slight mild addiction) .A flight of stairs lead from the kitchen into the bedroom, which is one single large room. This room too, is well lit from windows. In place of cloth, the same multicoloured beads became curtains for my windows. You can never be too careful, especially if you're a witch. There's a queen-sized bed with cabinets by the sides, a mirror that talks (He calls himself Rodney) and a cat's playpen where my black cat Dusty spends most of his time when he's not out collecting dewdrops for me, or any other errand that I send him for. One of the corners is occupied by a coat's hanger which is most of the time overburdened with my many travelling cloaks and pointed hats (I only need one but I have an addiction to shopping for garments). My staff also leans agaisnt this stand whenever it's not with me, which is also very rare since a witch is quite powerless without her staff, and it can be life-threatening to not have your staff with you 24/7, especially if you're a witch.

But then of course, killing her would leave her shop empty, and leaving her potions available to lots of people, for free.

Hm, I've never really noticed before. Well, I suppose it's explainable. I have been trained in magic since childhood. It's only natural that my ATK are higher. But I am deeply disappointed. To be stronger by just a few points from a mortal, my mother would weep blood if she knew. I must train harder too.

100? is that the highest possible level?

But wouldn't you feel it is unfair that I've never attended the academy, yet I start off with a high level and ATK. Then everyone would take the easy way out and just make themselves high levelers instead of training for it.
